Safety in the workplace is a concern for most manufacturing managers. The company is liable if there are injuries in the workplace. It is important that a company has policies in place that ensure employee safety. Depending on the type of industry, there are government agencies that inspect specific industries to ensure employee safety. One such group is called OSHA.

OSHA is an organization that inspects laboratories, hospitals and businesses that either care for patients or have an organization where heavy machinery is in place.Want more? Click <a href='http://www.weau.com/news/ headlines/OSHA-cites-company-for-incident-that-killed-Ellsworth-man-193700181.html’>here{{/tag} They also inspect companies that discharge hazardous waste and materials. Most of these types of businesses, train their employees on safety. These training sessions often follow the rules of OSHA. This ensures the companies are in compliance throughout the year. Most OSHA inspections are not announced before they occur.

This can put manufacturers and other businesses at risk for being shut down if they are not following the rules. OSHA is a serious organization that takes their job seriously. They do not tolerate manufacturers or hospitals who do not follow safety guidelines. The penalties for failing inspections include heavy fines and the possibility of being shut down. Safety in the workplace is a serious issue that all managers should address.

Much has already been written on this blog regarding job safety standards, but what about when you come home? You should always make sure that your home, of all places, is as safe as it can be. And, aside from the obvious perks, meeting some basic home safety standards could really make a difference when it comes to your home insurance rates.

Below are some things you can do to make the home safer:

- In the basement you want to make sure all your chemicals and paints are in covered containers. If you have any combustibles, you should consider relocating them to an area outside of the home.

- In the bathroom, make sure you put in some textured surfaces in the shower and tub. The installation of grab bars is also advised if none are present.

- If possible, re-run any cords or electrical wires that run through high-traffic areas and make sure you don’t place a rug or carpet over any.

Those are just a few suggestions. And, as mentioned before, there are some home safety measures that could even positively impact your insurance. However, if you’re looking for specifics, you should check with kansashomeinsurance.com or your home insurance provider of choice. They’ll have the answers to your questions.

Job safety should be your number one concern while working. You should never put yourself in a situation where you sacrifice safety for the sake of your employer. While your job is important, your family wants to see you safe and sound when you come home from work.

What are some ways you can keep yourself safe while you are at work? Here are some good injury prevention tips:

-Always Wear Mesh Gloves When Using A Knife

-Wear A Hard Hat If You Working Around Falling Debris

-Never Lift More Than You Are Capable Of To Prevent Strains And Sprains

These tips will allow you to stay safe while still being able to do your job.Check out this link here. Any good employer is going to help you to stay as safe as possible on the job. Any employer that does not make job safety a priority is probably not worth working for.

You can take action by pointing out anything that creates an unsafe situation at work. Contacting OSHA can help put pressure on your employer to follow safety laws if they are not being followed. You do not have to perform any task in which you feel your safety is being compromised.

Teams are designed to distribute the workload in an acceptable manner to achieve a common goal. Everyone pulls together and looks out for each other. One way of looking out for your team members is keep your work environment safe. It is not just one person’s responsibility to ensure a safe work area. It is everyone’s job.

Teams that designate one person to ensure the work zone is safe will have more workplace injuries. Other members may ignore safety hazards thinking the designee is going to handle it. The one assigned is probably overwhelmed and needs all members to pitch in. Safety is a full time job that requires everyone pitching in.

Workplaces that perform the same duties and handle the same materials everyday will have the same safety issues daily. Any team member that notices a hazard should not wait on someone else to correct the problem. Continual problems will only lead to injuries. The team must come together and agree that problems, regardless of who may be responsible, should be handled immediately.

Some people are more organized than others are. The less organized individuals may tend to be messier in their work. This leads to accidents. Every member should be responsible for their work area and not depend on others to clean up after them. Organization and structure is the key to a well functioning team.

Promoting a safe work environment can be daunting unless you throw in some fun for the employees. There are many companies that will work with business to promote safety in the workplace. These companies are experienced in getting results but may cost right much money. If you have the time, you do not need to hire an outside company as you can do it on your own. Start a reward program in your company for all employees. As you continuously go a certain number of days without an accident, reward the employees.I was looking for more information and found it here.Get more information here. http://philanthropyedge.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/hiring-the-right-millennial-employee-getting-the-work-done/ This can be done on a small scale or a larger scale. One way to reward the employees is by giving them free drinks and concessions when they go 30 days without an accident. Every so often you can up the reward like maybe having a dinner for the employees after a year of no accidents. This keeps the employees accountable to each other as they do not want others to lose out on a reward. It also helps the employees stay more alert to what they are doing if they know they can be awarded. Researchers show most workplace accidents occur because employees are not paying attention.

It is easy to see a safety problem and think, someone else can do it. You get busy and think well the next person will mop up that spill or move that pallet. However, everyone one else is thinking the same thing. Someone will get hurt eventually.

Thinking this way is counterproductive. It is not leading by example. Ultimately, the safety issues never get resolved and someone is injured. Do not focus on what others may or may not be doing. You see a hazard correct it on the spot. Mention the problem if it continues. Unfortunately, many people try to do as little as possible to get by in the work place.

Regardless of them, you must always be the first one to step up and deal with safety issues. The slackers, even though they appear to get away with it, will be found out eventually. Many keep track of what they do and compare it to others. This gets you nowhere, it waste times and soon becomes obvious.

Managers, even though it may not appear so, look for leaders. They look for the first one to deal with a safety problem. No one wants a scorekeeper. It will get people hurt because, while focusing on who is doing what, safety falls by the wayside.
