Review Sheets - Feedback

These Guidance sheets have been produced, reviewed and edited by designers for designers.

Most of the Guidance is based on common issues faced by designers and is not attempting to replace the professional expertise found within the design community, but rather to enhance it, support young professionals, assist small design practices and provide teaching and training reference material. In particular it is designed to help designers to understand how their acts and omissions can affect the health, safety and wellbeing of others and how they can engage with industry wide improvements. It seeks to do this by explaining in simple terms some of the issues to consider.

From time to time there will need to be amendments, changes or additions to the SiD Design Guides. The guiding principal here is:

“Do the changes proposed help to clarify, simplify or explain a way or ways of making some design decision that may help to reduce negative impacts on projects and the people affected by them and on structures and people who work in or maintain them?”

If the answer is “Yes” then it is likely your suggestion will be useful and incorporated.

Feedback to date has been overwhelmingly positive and helpful. We have a new feedback form that is easy to complete and would be grateful if you could complete it for us if you use the Guides.

We have decided to change the way we seek for feedback to allow it to be more flexible. If you have time to contribute proactively then you can contact us to put a suggestion to us.

We are particularly keen to work with industry partners, who may be individuals, organisations, trade bodies or institutions to improve the content of the SiD website so that it is use to you in your work as designers and specifiers or as trainers and mentors of such individuals and teams.

We should like to know your views. Please note that SiD is not a consultancy organisation and cannot give answers to specific design problems you may face. You may, however, like to alert us to issues that could be of general concern or particular difficulty for designers.

We should like specific suggestions about individual design Guides. We particularly welcome technical input from practicing designers.

We should like to hear from you if you would like us to consider introducing a new Guide or series of Guides. We especially would like to hear from you if you would like to assist in production of Guides with us.
